GRAND RAPIDS CONCRETE POLISHING PROJECT BACKGROUND: This former home of the Grand Rapids based MC Sports distribution center had seen better days before Xtreme Engineered Floor Systems completed our concrete polishing process. Much of this was due to the former pallet racks leaving behind thousands of bolt holes in the concrete. Years of forklift traffic on the untreated concrete had also taken its toll and left the concrete in terrible shape.
The new owner of this Grand Rapids building wanted to bring the floor back to life before occupancy. They also wanted a concrete flooring solution that is easy to clean, durable, and would cut down on energy usage through light reflectivity. Because of the large square footage, and Xtreme’s reputation of providing quality finished work, it was an easy choice for the owner to make us their Grand Rapids concrete polishing contractor.
APPLICATION: This Grand Rapids concrete polishing project required us to utilize several of our experienced installation crews because of it’s large size. The holes were patched with our polishable patching materials prior to starting the concrete polishing process. In addition to needing several crews, we also utilized a wide variety of equipment from our fleet to ensure a smooth polishing process, and a dust free environment. The concrete polishing process was completed through the various steps, the concrete was densified to ensure long term durability, and our X-Guard was applied to provide stain protection.
FINISHED PROJECT: Once Xtreme finished the diamond steps, densification, and guard applications, this Grand Rapids concrete polishing project was complete. The difference from before and after was night and day. The previously damaged concrete is patched, has a fantastic shine, and a higher light reflectivity. The higher light reflectivity will lead to lower energy usage over the life of the floor. The low maintenance and easy clean ability of this Grand Rapids polished concrete floor are exactly what the owner wanted.
