Project Description
Grand Rapids Floor Coating
BACKGROUND: John Ball Zoo in Grand Rapids is a West Michigan favorite attraction. Once it opens in the spring, it stays busy until they shut down in late fall. Because of the high demand of visitors, there are quite a few concession stands strategically placed around the park. These stands are constantly busy so they need a floor that is easy to clean, durable, safe, decorative, and doesn’t require long shutdowns for installation. Our V-8 High Performance Floors Vinyl Chip floor coating system was the perfect match for this Grand Rapids floor coating project!
APPLICATION:
Xtreme’s facility is centrally located to this Grand Rapids floor coating project, so we were able to mobilize one of our installation crews quickly. VCT tile was removed, and the concrete was diamond ground to prepare for adhesion of the floor coating. Due to the performance requirements of the project, our industrial strength V-8 Hybrid XT floor coating was applied in a 4 coat processs to create a seamless easy-to-clean surface. Because the concessions lose revenue the longer they’re out of service it was important that the coating be installed quickly. The installation crew’s experience and the fast curing time of our Hybrid XT resin allowed this coating to be completed and returned to service in 1 day! Also, it has no VOCs during installation, so it has very little odor. Another unique feature of this floor coating is it won’t yellow or discolor with UV exposure like an epoxy.
