Project Description
ESD Floor Coating Installed in Industrial Facility
Ada, MI
BACKGROUND: Standing for electro-static dissipative (ESD), ESD flooring systems are used in areas where static control is required. ESD Flooring is typically installed in areas like: plastic manufacturing areas, electronic manufacturing areas, solvent storage areas, server rooms, and laboratories. These flooring systems help to control static buildup that is generated from foot and wheeled traffic on the surface. While there are wax topical treatments, and other ESD Flooring options, a specialty coating like this one will retain its static dissipative properties over time while simultaneously giving the benefits of a coated floor. Some of the benefits you get with a coated floor are cleanability from a seamless and non-porous surface, durability, and longevity.
APPLICATION: A high build ESD Floor Coating was installed to protect this industrial facility’s concrete. For proper penetration and adhesion, the concrete was prepared to the proper CSP (Concrete Surface Profile) prior to coating. The CSP was achieved on this project by diamond grinding with our large Prep/Master machines from our fleet of equipment. The finished ESD Floor Coating is grounded with copper grounding strips. A conductive ESD epoxy primer is installed. Once the conductive primer is dry, a static dissipating urethane topcoat is installed.
Once completed, this ESD Floor Coating provides a monolithic seamless surface with permanent anti-static properties.
