It’s winter again in West Michigan. How long will it last? What can we expect? According to the Weather Channel, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts a weak La Niña pattern. What this means for West Michigan is “heavy snow and extremely cold temperature followed by sudden bouts of snowmelt and above-freezing temperatures that will arrive without warning.” Apparently, weather in the Great Lakes region is hard to predict!
If you’ve lived in West Michigan for any length of time, you expect the weather to vary from day to day – sometimes from hour to hour. So, you have to be prepared for anything and everything. You also know that when the snow flies in West Michigan, slippery floors can be a real problem!
According to the National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI):

  • Slips & falls account for over 1 million hospital emergency room visits each year.
  • 22% of slip & fall incidents result in more than 31 days away from work.
  • Slips & falls are the leading cause of worker’s compensation claims (85%).
  • Annual compensation and medical costs for slip & fall injuries run approximately $70 Billion.

If these numbers don’t convince you how vital slip & fall prevention is, nothing will!Xtreme Engineered Floor Systems is serious about installing slip-resistant flooring. In fact, that every floor we install can be made slip resistant. Some of our more popular slip-resistant finishes include the V-8 6.0 High-Performance Epoxy System and the V-8 Hybrid XT Coating. Even the process we use to polish concrete floors meets ADA and OSHA slip resistance standards. And all of our slip-resistant flooring options are easy to install and maintain.
Slip-Resistant V-8 6.0 High-Performance Epoxy System – After the first epoxy coating is applied to your cement floor, while it is still wet, industrial sand flint is broadcast across the floor. This provides a textured, slip-resistant finish after the final epoxy coating is applied. Depending on your needs, the texture can be light or heavy.
Slip-Resistant V-8 Hybrid XT Coating – When you need a safe, slip-resistant floor that can be installed and returned to service quickly, we recommend the V-8 Hybrid XT floor coating. Safe flooring options don’t need to be boring either. With vinyl chips, mica flakes, and quartz granules as finish options, your slip-resistant floors will be both safe and beautiful.
